Get your kicks on Route 66!

2026 is the 100-year anniversary of the opening of the fabled "MotherRoad" from Chicago to Santa Monica, when 385 miles of the route ran through Northern Arizona. 100 years later, Arizona can claim the longest stretch of the original Route 66 in the U.S. We couldn't let the year go by without celebrating the centennial, with a great drive on Route 66 with our Porsches! Your registration fee for this event includes a group dinner and a commemorative event T-shirt!
This three-day event features lots of driving to interesting sites along the route, and lots of social time with our PCA friends. We will begin our drive from the West Valley, taking I-10 west then up to Lake Havasu City, home of the famous London Bridge (*Hotel booking information below). The next day we head to Topock, "the Western Gateway of Route 66," then we will travel East on the famous highway, with plans to stop at several historic sites along the way to our final destination in Flagstaff --
- Oatman -- "Home of gold mines, wild burros, and semi-wild gunfighters!"
- Kingman -- The massive Kingman Powerhouse houses the Arizona Route 66 Museum, which overflows with vintage autos and neon signs that tell the stories of The Mother Road.
- Seligman -- Preserves the Americana of yesteryear on the scenic drive that is the longest remaining stretch of Route 66; the model for "Radiator Springs" in the movie Cars.
- Williams -- One of the last U.S. Route 66 communities to be bypassed by the interstate in 1984, the resilient town blossomed as an iconic place to visit in Arizona, making the most of its small-town charm.
From Williams we will drive several stretches of Old Route 66 on our way to Flagstaff, where we'll check into the DoubleTree Hotel. (*See booking information below). There will be time to relax and share stories about the day's experiences before we head to dinner at Taverna Modern Mediterranean restaurant. "For well over a decade we have been perfecting our menu, delivering vibrant flavors of modern Mediterranean in a harmonious blend of time-honored traditions and innovative creations." You will select your entree and pre-pay for your dinner when you register on MotorsportReg. Click HERE to see the entree options.
Saturday's planned activity is the Mother Road Classic Car Show, which will feature up to 200 cars registered in 24 classes. See the registration application information in the link if you wish to enter your Porsche in the show. Keep in mind, you will have driven your car about 430 highway miles over the previous two days, and you won't have a lot of time to clean it up and make it presentable for display. But of course we would all agree that even a bug-splattered Porsche will stand out among the many other entries, so it's up to you!
Activities for the rest of the day will be optional. You may wish to visit other attractions around the area, or plan to meet others for lunch before heading back to Phoenix. Or you can choose to spend the rest of the day and another night in Flag, enjoying the cooler Northern Arizona weather before returning to the Valley on your own on Sunday.
Registration for this 3-day event is $100.00 per person, which covers dinner on Friday at the Taverna restaurant and a commemorative T-shirt (click HERE to see an example).
